Corrections

Corrections append. They never silently overwrite.

The policy

When an entry is corrected, the correction is added to the entry and stays visible on it, carrying the date and a note describing what changed. The original entry identifier does not change. Entry identifiers and permalinks are permanent, so a corrected entry stays findable at the address it always had.

Nothing here is edited quietly. An entry that has been revised says so on its face.

Filing a correction

Corrections are accepted at the address published in the site masthead. A correction is most useful when it names the entry identifier and points to the document that shows the error, since the identifier is what the record is organized around.

Scheduled review

Beyond corrections received, the record is reviewed on a fixed schedule.

• Weekly. Intake against a defined source watchlist: the Department of Justice disclosures library, the Federal Register, filings with the Office of Government Ethics, court dockets for tracked cases, and the subject's posts.
• Quarterly. A link integrity sweep across every cited source, checkpoint updates for all open series entries, and a review of disputed entries to see whether their status has changed.

An entry whose status changes on review is updated the same way any other correction is recorded: the change is noted on the entry and dated.
