Republican National Convention adjourns without adopting a 2020 platform
A Resolution Regarding the Republican Party Platform, dated August 24, 2020, was adopted in place of a new platform. It stated that the party has and will continue to enthusiastically support the President's America-first agenda, and that the 2020 Republican National Convention will adjourn without adopting a new platform until the 2024 Republican National Convention. The resolution further provided that any motion to amend the 2016 platform or to adopt a new platform would be ruled out of order. The effect was to leave the 2016 platform in place.
